(A)  DIBRUGARH DISTRICT AT A GLANCE

     

            The District of Dibrugarh with only one Sadar Sub-Division is situated in the Eastern part of Assam. The District is surrounded by Tinsukia Disrict in the East, Sivasagar District in the West, Dhemaji District and part of Lakhimpur District in the North and a part of Sivasagar Disrict and Arunachal Pradesh in South. The river Brahmaputra flows in the North.

            Dibrugarh Town is the District Headquarter situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra . It is connected by broad-gauge railway line of N.F. Railway to the rest of the state and the country through Tinsukia. The N.H. 37 is the major road running through the District. Mohanbari Airport is located at a distance of about 16 K.M. from Dibrugarh Town which serves the Upper Assam District of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Arunachal Pradesh and is air linked with Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi . Besides this, the Air Force Station at Chabua (Nadua) at a distance of about 25 K.M. from Dibrugarh is also used for air-link with other important towns of the North-East and Kolkata.

            Oil and Tea are the major industries of the District. There are 144 nos. of Tea Garden with processing factories. The Head Quarter of the Oil India Limited is located at Duliajan, is at a distance of about 50 K.M. from Dibrugarh Town . The Fertilizer Corporation of India and Assam Petro-Chemical Ltd. at Namrup and the Assam Gas Company at Duliajan, NEEPCO at Kathalguri near Duliajan are some of the major industries in the District.

(A)  District and HPC profile of LA Segments.

     

Dibrugarh District as an administrative unit comprises of 7(Seven) LA segments out of which 6(Six) LA segments form a part of 13- Dibrugarh HPC and 1(One) LA segment falls in   14- Lakhimpur HPC.

        Thus, the district profile of the 7(Seven) LA segments of Dibrugarh District is as follows
